This Privacy Policy explains how Open Word and the Mindful Journal Club (together, the “Services”) collect, use, share, and protect information. The Services are operated by Inspiring Experiences LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”).

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1) Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to information collected through:
    •    Open Word websites and blog pages (including openword.app and related pages)
    •    The Open Word web app and any login experiences
    •    The Mindful Journal Club website and membership/community experiences (mindfuljournal.club and related pages)
    •    Resource listings, submission forms, and partner inquiries
    •    Emails, messages, and communications you send to us

2) Information We Collect

A) Information you provide

We may collect information you choose to provide, such as:
    •    Account information: name, email address, login credentials or authentication tokens
    •    Parent/guardian information: name and email address used to create and manage a Family Mode account for a child
    •    Profile information: preferences, goals, settings, modes selected (Reflection Mode, Family Mode)
    •    Community information: posts, comments, messages, or submissions within the Mindful Journal Club (where applicable)
    •    Resource submissions: organization name, website, description, categories, and contact details you submit
    •    Support communications: information you provide when contacting us

B) Journaling and reflection content

When you use prompts and journaling features, we may store the responses and content you enter to provide the Service. Your entries may contain sensitive information depending on what you choose to write.

C) Payment information

If you purchase a subscription or other paid offering, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers. We may receive limited information such as payment status, subscription plan, and transaction identifiers.

D) Information collected automatically

We may automatically collect:
    •    Usage data: pages viewed, features used, clicks, time spent, and app interactions
    •    Device and technical data: browser type, device identifiers, IP address, operating system, referral URLs
    •    Log data: diagnostic logs and error reports
    •    Cookies and similar technologies: for functionality, preferences, analytics, and performance

3) How We Use Information

We use information to:
    •    Provide and operate the Services (including Family Mode)
    •    Create, authenticate, and manage accounts
    •    Deliver content (including One Prompt A Day, prompt packs, and related experiences)
    •    Personalize content and improve user experience
    •    Process payments and manage subscriptions (through Stripe)
    •    Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests
    •    Send marketing communications (you can opt out; see Section 7)
    •    Maintain safety, prevent fraud, and secure the Services
    •    Analyze performance and improve features
    •    Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

4) How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information only as needed in these situations:

A) Service providers

We may share information with trusted vendors who help us run the Services (for example: hosting, data storage, analytics, customer support tools, email delivery, security services).

B) Payment processing

We share necessary information with Stripe to process payments and manage subscriptions.

C) Legal, safety, and rights

We may share information if required by law or if we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or our Services.

D) Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice if required by law.

5) Resources Directory and Public Listings

Our Resources page may include curated, public links to organizations and tools. When an organization submits a listing, we may display it publicly. We may edit listings for clarity, formatting, safety, or consistency.

6) Children’s Privacy and Family Mode (Users Under 13)

A) Family Mode is parent-managed

We allow children under 13 to use Family Mode only under the management of a parent or legal guardian. The parent/guardian is responsible for creating and managing the child’s access and overseeing the child’s use of the Services.

B) Information from children

In Family Mode, we may collect limited information needed to provide the experience, such as:
    •    A child profile name or nickname (if provided)
    •    Mode preferences and activity progress
    •    Responses to prompts or reflections entered during Family Mode use (if enabled/allowed by the parent)

We do not require children to provide contact information such as email addresses to use Family Mode.

C) Parental rights

Parents/guardians may request to:
    •    Review the child’s information
    •    Delete the child’s profile and associated data (subject to Section 10 on retention)
    •    Stop further collection or use of the child’s information

To make a request, contact info@mindfuljournal.club. We may take steps to verify your identity and relationship to the child before completing the request.

7) Email and Communications

We may send:
    •    Transactional messages (account confirmations, password resets, service notices)
    •    Content updates and marketing messages (new posts, new features, and offers)

You can opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails. You may still receive transactional messages.

8) Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember preferences, measure performance, and improve content. You can manage cookies through browser settings. If we use a cookie banner or preference manager, you can adjust choices there.

9) Data Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10) Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:
    •    Provide the Services
    •    Maintain records and comply with legal obligations
    •    Resolve disputes and enforce agreements
    •    Improve and secure the Services

You may request deletion of your account by contacting info@mindfuljournal.club. Some information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (for example, payment records and fraud prevention).

11) Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
    •    Access, correct, or delete your personal information
    •    Object to or restrict certain processing
    •    Receive a copy of your information (where applicable)
    •    Opt out of certain communications
